Parallels (2021) critiques the societal pressure put on women to settle down early or to fill a specific role in a family dynamic.

I was inspired by my mother's seemingly effortless ability to raise me on her own, always subverting the idea that she ever needed to wed. I wondered what it would have looked like if she had chosen this route instead. How would I have I have understood "family" and my role as a woman in a family?

In these images we play into this role with obvious discomfort, subverting the traditional wedding picture. Our act of resistance is our visible disdain for the role we are playing.
